How we handle your laundry
Ironing is done in your home, on your board and with your iron — which is what guarantees that nothing leaves the house and no item goes astray. If your equipment is tired, or you have none, say so when we quote: we bring our own, steam generator included.
Each piece is treated according to its label and its fibre. Cotton and linen take high heat with steam; silk, viscose and synthetics call for a warm iron and a pressing cloth. Shirts are worked in the order that avoids creasing what has just been done: collar, yoke, cuffs, sleeves, back, fronts. Deliberate creases — suit trousers, pleated skirts — are respected.
At the end, you choose: folded into piles by category and by person, or hung on hangers if you provide them. Household linen follows the same logic — sheets and duvet covers folded to the size of your shelves, tea towels and bath towels stacked separately.
Two limits worth knowing: we do not iron items that are already stained or damaged without telling you first, because heat sets a stain permanently, and we set aside garments labelled "do not iron" rather than risk marking them. Those pieces come back to you separately, with the explanation.
Questions about ironing
Is ironing charged per item or per hour?
Per hour, because it is the only honest measure: a creased linen shirt takes five times as long as a t-shirt straight out of a tumble dryer. You set the time you want to devote to it, and we work through as many pieces as that allows, starting with whatever you consider a priority.
Can I book ironing only, without cleaning?
Yes. Some households book us two hours every fortnight purely for the laundry basket. It is a service in its own right, with the same regularity and the same person, and no obligation to take anything else.
Does the laundry need to be washed and dry already?
Yes, that is essential: we do not take on washing or drying. Put the basket out before we arrive, and flag anything you need back quickly. Laundry that is still damp will be set aside rather than forced under the iron.
What if an item is scorched or marked during the visit?
It does not happen when labels are respected, which is precisely why we read them. Should damage occur through our own doing, the company's professional liability insurance is there to cover it: report it straight away, before the item is washed.
