How far the washing goes
We wash glazing on both faces wherever the outside can be reached from indoors or from stable ground: tilt-and-turn windows, sliding bays, French doors, reachable roof windows, conservatories, low glass roofs, mirrors, glazed partitions and glass balustrades. Frames, transoms, handles and sliding runners are done every time: that is where the grime hides before running back down onto clean glass.
The method is the traditional one because it remains the best: applicator, squeegee and corner drying with microfibre, rather than an aerosol product that leaves a film. On heavily soiled glazing — coming out of winter, a frontage on a busy street, premises left shut up — a first rough pass is needed before the wash proper.
We do not climb onto roofs, we use neither cherry pickers nor ropes, and we do not work at height beyond a step stool or a telescopic pole used from the ground. In practice, upper-storey building façades fall outside our scope: they belong to a firm equipped for work at height, and we will say so plainly rather than take the risk.
How often depends mostly on exposure. Glass facing a busy Nancy street soils two to three times faster than a bay opening onto a sheltered garden. Twice a year is enough in most homes, four times for a shop front.

How is window cleaning priced?
By the number of opening panes rather than by square metre, because it is the count of openings and how reachable they are that drives the time spent. One large sliding bay washes faster than six small Georgian-bar windows. Give us a rough count of the windows and their type, and that is enough for a dependable figure.
Should windows not be washed in full sun?
Correct, and we take it into account in the running order: on a hot surface the water evaporates before it can be squeegeed and leaves marks. We start with the façades exposed early in the morning and then follow the shade. That is one reason a summer visit tends to be booked first thing.
Do you take on shutters and blinds?
Roller shutters and their casings, yes, on the visible and reachable parts. Interior slatted blinds are possible but quoted separately: it is slow work, slat by slat, which easily doubles the time spent on a room.
What if a pane still looks hazy after washing?
A haze that will not shift almost always comes from the glass itself: fine scratches, limescale burned in by a garden sprinkler, or an old deposit that one pass cannot lift. We tell you on the spot and suggest a dedicated treatment rather than letting you believe the pane is beyond saving.
